K1200r handlebars on k1200s

Postby 7dage on Sat Nov 12, 2011 11:26 am

I just installed the top part from an R on my 1200s. Very easy, took an hour. However the bars are now twisted backwards so the clutch and brake lever sit too high. What shall i do to get that right?

Did you use S handlebars with R as well, or just a bridge? If not, I suppose you should.

The issue here is if you use the S bars on the R yoke the switch assemblies are turned too far down. The brackets on the back of the bars (NVH vibration isolators) prevent rotation so you either have to buy the R bars, cut them off, or drill new securing holes for the switch gear to mount through the bar (LHS only on my bike). Also a caution on wiring here. The R yoke is more upright, and you may find the rubber grommets may not seal perfectly into the switch combination housings. This may lead to water ingress and switch issues later if you ride in the rain, or use a pressure washer. Cheers

Certainly will, but as noted you must either drill new holes in your existing S bars, or cough up for the R bars.
