Since I will probably be married (again!) next year, and will ride 2 up, I am seriously considering giving up my K1200S and getting K1300GT and if things go as well as planned maybe an R1200GS or Adv as well.

I'd say....testdrive! But you probably already did?
On the other hand, my wife and I love our K1200S. And interestingly enough, we rented a R1200GS two years ago on vacation and it was not our cup of tea. A great bike absolutely, but for me too high and my wife constantly reminded me about the fact that she preferred our K1200S.... Maybe a matter of taste but personally, I would rather go for the K1300GT if I'd have to make a choice between the two. I think both are great bikes (GS(A) and GT) but it's a matter of taste too and sometimes a matter of the type of roads you have to deal with. Here in Poland, logically I should be driving nothing else than a GS or GSA. But my heart went for the S.... and I never regretted it. The GS(A) has become so 'common' that the GT is a valid alternative. A bit more of a statement these days than driving a "grasshopper on wheels" as my wife calls the GS(A) :)

On a totally different note, it looks like I'll be in Istanbul somewhere the second half of May. Drop me a PM if you'd like to have a drink or so.

I love my K1200S, but my girlfriend is not at all comfortable riding in the back. I am also not very comfortable while she is in the back. Note that she is only 48kg :). I thought K1300GT would be the best alternative in my situation. It is sad that I have to give up the S. On the other hand she already got her motorcycle licence in the States and taking courses. If she feels comfortable enough to ride in Istanbul as well as longer rides to other destinations; then I won't have to give the S up. I keep my fingers crossed :).

GS is for fun only when I am riding in the mountains where the roads are dirt and there is no asphalt. K1200S is just not comfortable enough in those situations.

It would be nice to have a beer when you are in Istanbul. PM sent.
