Additional lights

Postby JohanGT on Wed Aug 27, 2008 7:18 am

At first I thought it was rediculous to add more lights to the magnificant lights of the GT. The Xenon headlights just cannot be beaten!

However, my daughter made me think. Apparently these lights are not so glaringly obvios as the normal lights in the day time so it might be a good idea to add more.

I am also considering one of the Iron Butt rides and this means that in South Africa I will end up doing some riding in the night. As soon as my plans come together for this trip, I will definately consider this option.

JohanGT
I feel the same way
I want a triangle of light so I do not look like a car with one headlight
Am thinking of putting a second globe inside my indicators
Motolights on the forks are too low down for me, I want them higher
I want the cagers to see two high orange lights and one white light between them
I would have loved LED lights on the back of the mirrors

For a "triangle" of light:

Either Motolights or Martin fabrication mounts with PIAA 1100 lights

I had Motolights until one failed - they said they'd send one under warranty, but thre months later I was still waiting, so I've just fitted Martin fabrication mounts (on the lower mudguard screws) and PIAA 1100 lights.

I am looking to fit some Hella HID spots (very similar to the GS lights), but I have to work out mounting the ballasts to the mudguard

Look at Denver BMW in Colorado. They make a Jimmy mount for spotlights for the GT, attached to the morrors

And to be brutally honest, they are crap and a huge expense.

How do I know? I bought a set - only to find they angle the lights into the ground.

The brackets had to be cut and re-welded to provide a flat (horizontal) platform.

My HID spots are on them

Thanks a lot, I was about to order, with current exchange rate they are very expensive

I will try and have them made locally and write off Denver BMW
