BMWSuperBikes.com - A new day, a new identity

Postby SHIVA on Wed Apr 16, 2008 10:42 pm

At BMW-K.COM we have been the community for BMW multi-cylinder bikes for a few years. However after 25 years the multi-cylinder BMW's are no longer confined to the letter "K." This week BMW Motorrad launched another designation to represent even a faster line of BMW I-4 bikes and that mark is "S."

To celebrate this occasion and to embrace collectively all the current and future riders of BMW multi-cylinder bikes, whether they love the proven K bikes or the new S bikes or both, our community will be known as BMWSuperBikes.com.

I think that's an apt name and truly represent not only the growth of our community but the overall caliber and the expertise of our membership.

Our community receives about 3 million hits a month, with a growing membership of about 3,600 (as of April '08) and an expanding open archive of more than 50,000 very informative posts.

We love fast bikes and it shows.

Of course our community will still be accessible through previous URLs and now new ones as well.

You can visit us for the same content without interruption via:

BMWSuperBikes.com
BMW-K.COM
BMWRR.COM
BMWSportBikes.com
S1000RRForums.com
BMWK1200S.COM

It's great to have you along this spirited journey. :) S

That means all the K.com gear can be tossed away to be replaced ?

No replacement of the BMW-K.COM goodies. Just an addition of BMWSuperBikes.com.

I think BMW Super Bikes dot com rocks. With the new S bikes, we simply couldn't remain a "K" only site. Also, once they make bigger K bikes, we couldn't have remained K1200S either. I think this is the right direction. We are still a K web site, but also a S or any future designation BMW may use for their multi-cylinder bikes.... :) S

Initially we were BMWK1200S.com, that URL is still being used, when the R, the GT and R-S came, the K1200S became limiting and inaccurate. So we grew to BMW-K.COM, and I was pretty sure BMW will stick to the "K" for all their multi-cylinder bikes. But since they are going to share K and S for their I-4 biikes, the BMW-K also became limiting.

Now with the BMWSuperBikes.com we can, for the indefinite future be the site for all BMW I-4 bikes, while keeping the BMW-K site.

Cool?

Nomenclature is a complicated issue and we shouldn't be so "hung up" over a name change on this very progressive forum that is "evolving" to reflect the alterations to the BMW model lines. We love the evolution on the equipment so we must also embrace Shiva's effort to remain up to date. As the url is still available for each version then we have no continuity issue and therefore no problem.

I am proud as hell to be a member here amongst a classy, well informed group of guys (and the odd girl) that I would have an ale with anytime or anywhere. That is what's important but not as much as the valuable content that we all enjoy here each and every day. Cheers to you S (or is that K? ... kidding 'bro')
