Right you are geonaut, the saying goes, "It's more fun to ride a slow bike fast, than a fast bike slow."

The same is true of cars on public roads, in my experience. Around town, good luck lighting up 2nd to redline in the M3, but my E30 can pin 3rd on on-ramps without breaking the law (well, maybe a little).

I think the key is taking your machinery to the proper venue - the track is the only place to push the limits.

I'm inclined to agree with you and purchase the triple before the 1000. Its just more fun to push on local roads, and still a thrill at the track. Probably lighter and less expensive also. Honestly, my abilities are not developed enough yet to consistently push the limits of a 1000 anyway. I'd rather master a super sport artfully, before moving on to a 1000.

I also agree. A 675 would be a more sensible choice.

And the same about the K ! It should be a K1000 with a torque oriented engine with 110 Nm and 130 hp that would result in a lighter and narrower engine

Has there been any new developments on this 675, or do we have to wait for the 1000 to sell like hotcakes first(which it will :alien: )?

And the problem with that is?....

Lets just admit, we are all horsepower junkies at heart. We would all like to do throttle wheelies in 3rd gear on a highway by mistake.

In an interview with the Austrian magazine 1000PS, Hendrik von Kuenheim, Head BMW Motorrad, gave the following comments regarding the possibility for a 600/675 cc supersportsbike:
A 600 Super sport is not financially feasible in Europe.
You know, those little super athletes in the 600-750 cubic class can deliver 80 to 90 percent what the big motorcycles can at a much lower price. A new motorcycle like that can not be brought to the market in Europe today. They all offer high-tech solutions that can be found in a big motorcycle at a significantly lower turnover. We have repeatedly played through it, we also have ideas on how we could make such a bike with various engine concepts like 2, 3 or 4 cylinder or V-series engine ... Do not expect anything in this direction by BMW Motorrad in the next few years. We'll have other surprises, great surprises, but the 600 Super sport for me is not a high priority.

Well due to my level of experience (or better yet lack of experience) the 600/675 would have been a great bike...I guess I will have to wait to join the beemer club then....
