Carnauba Wax

Postby Special-K on Mon Jul 16, 2012 2:11 am

Friends :D

The simple truth is that if you regularly wax your motorcycle’s painted finish, it will enhance the inherent beauty of the paint, protect it from the environment and keep your ride looking its best.
Waxing is not only important; it is necessary to maintain the value and appearance of your bike.

I have purchased this type of wax from Supercheap auto here in Oz, it is in the spray variety.
It can be used on wet or dry...

I must say im very impressed by this type of wax.
I believe that our manual also recommends Carnauba Wax.
Does anyone use this wax or have any additional information to share.
Thanks

Hi,
Let me advise Crystal seal(Synthetic Glass Coat, the coating technology from Japan).I'm not sure what it would be called in Australia.
I think it is ultimately protection for any paint work. The Crystal seal technology made a flim thickness up to 6 micron.
It capable to coat on many material such as plastic, carbon, vinyl , rubber and it easy to clean up a dust and always keep shiny for long lasting.
Even I missed HP but The Blue Angel is my real life.

Hey guys! Could anyone suggest the product to clean carbon on Akrapovich exhaust can? It doesn't shine anymore! I'm in panic! :D I guess this could happen because of extreme heat...

Hi M :)

few information... :?
http://www.akrapovic.com/en/Motorcycle/ ... nance.aspx

muffler – titanium outer sleeve: use a soft cloth sprayed with a multi-purpose spray lubricant (WD-40 or equivalent)
muffler – carbon-fiber outer sleeve: use a soft dry cloth
stainless steel link pipe: use a soft cloth sprayed with a contact cleaner / degreaser, then wipe with a soft dry cloth (return to original finish by polishing)

Also there are some information on google with the key "polish carbon exhaust", reading that information seems you can treat it the same way as the glass fibers, polishing but no waxing

If the finish has gone away on your pipe, it resin layer prolly failed due to heat, or damage from wax chemicals
you can restore the finish to a matte luster with some easy sanding,
use 1000 wet or dry with car soap mixed into the water,
important, wear gloves so the sanding particles wont imbed into your hands.
Sand in one direction only, use long strokes.

Note Carbon fiber resins dont stand up well to sunshine or wax chemicals

To clean carbon fiber a wipe off with some car soap/water mix is usually enough to clean the resin surface.

If you do go the sanding route dont apply any wax to the surface it may cause it to turn white.

I would be grateful if you could explain in more detail about sanding. What do you mean by "use 1000 wet or dry with car soap mixed into the water"?
Please accept my apologies, English is not my first language :alien:

Ber, thanks for the link! But it doesn't say how to get that shine back

"use 1000 wet or dry with car soap mixed into the water"?

Tela esmeril o papel esmeril, grano 1000, para uso seco o con agua sola o enjabonada, es decir de grano muy fino.

Cheers M :)

And it is recommended by the manual to clean titanium with WD-40. But the concern is about carbon on Akra's can

Ok, now I got it, thanks!
But these products imply cleaning, don't they? But my problem is a bit different. Carbon is clean, but doesn't shine! :D
