Small tail-pack

Postby andywilson on Sun Jul 15, 2012 2:26 pm

Hi all
I have the luggage grid fitted to my K1300s, does anyone have any recommendations for a small tail-pack? approx. 5L, mainly to use on day trips ideal for a small bottle of water, waterproofs, sunglasses etc
I have a tank bag but i am looking for some thing a little smaller to fit on the back of the bike .

May not be what you want but i bought a Ventura Imola seat bag. The base ties to the seat and and the bag locks onto the base. When not expanded it fits the accessories you mentioned. When expanded it's 22 litres and will fit a helmet.

I removed my luggage grid as i'll likely only use it once a year.

Hello

I think you will find this rear bag very useful, its modestly priced and can fit a fair bit of gear.
It looks stylish and will not spoil the lines of the bike...

Check out the Tailgunner. Small, unobtrusive, locks, and can be painted with stock BMW paint to match your bike. The gentleman who came up with it is named Guy and he is in Florida. www.gsessories.com K1300S is not one of the bikes listed for the case on the site, but Guy said he makes one for that model.

Just picked up a small softbag from Hein Gericke which looks like the tailgunner pictured above.
Best tenner I spent in a while - fits perfectly and doesn't look big.
Best be quick though , the shop is going to close soon !

Hi,

I've been lurking for a bit, but have something to contribute to this thread. I don't have a K1300S yet, but I'm working towards it. Current ride is a red 2001 Triumph Sprint ST. Anyway, back to tail packs. Has anyone here checked these out:

http://www.luggagelocker.com/

I've used one of their tank bags almost since they first became available. The owner of the company is a great guy, we've talked on the phone, but I haven't met him in person yet. His products are top quality. I particularly recommend the Lexel material as it is waterproof and wears like iron. It is basically a synthetic leather. It is used for golf bags primarily. Anyway, his products are designed to lock to the bike, but be quickly removable and also lock closed.

Threadjack!

How you doing with that swap? I just made a deposit on a '12 K1300S. Deal includes a trade in of my '02 Sprint ST 955. I can hardly stand riding the Sprint now :) Can't wait to make the swap!

I just get the sprint back from a major service. I just rode it to the SF Bay Area from Los Angeles. First long distance ride I've done on it. I liked my vfr750 better. Vibes were friendlier. I used to do 16 hour days on the VFR750. No way I coul do that on the sprint. Still have some stuff to square away before I can make the jump to the K1300S, but I'm planning on putting a Sargent seat on it. That has a replaceable pillion seat you can swap with a lockable storage container. And there is an option to make the seat heated.
