What Horns have you found to be sufficiently loud...yet easily installed?

NOT the Stebel Nautilus Compact. It was listed as working for my K1200R but I have found no place to put it except on the handlebars (ugly). I'm giving it to a friend to try on his ZRX. The other Stebel might work, but I think either will require a new electrical circuit.

Louder horns not so easy

Postby frevi on Sat Jul 29, 2006 3:04 am

My dealer wouldn't do the electrical because of the CAN-bus; however, there's now apparently an aftermarket thing called a "Can-Bus Helper" made by Touratech (Part Number: 044-0450 for R-GS, don't know if it works on K12s) that allows accessories to be installed properly. The real problem is finding a place to mount a pair of horns for that nice two-tone sound. I rigged up a bracket for one horn under the right fairing on my K1200RS, but it wasn't that great and dang if I could find a place for the 2nd Fiamm.

I have used the compact siebel horns on many of my other bikes. However, on the K1300R I have not found any space where I can mount it (it can be mounted behind the side fairingon the K1300S though).

I did see one installation of this horn on the K1300R, but it was behind the fly shield. whilst it was a tight fit, it did work but man it looked like a bodge!

I reverted back to the std horn and the siebel is on a shelf.

ice.

You know, in Latvia bikers tend to practise demolishing of side mirrors. What are they for if they are not used...

I put a stebel horn on my previous bike K1200S and wasn't that impressed with it,barely any louder than standard and a lot of hassle fitting it.

Almost never used the horn. The loud exhaust does most of that work ...
