Does anyone have these SW-MOTECH Crashbars/Engine Guards installed?

What do you think about adding RIVCO highway pegs to them?

does anyone knows what is the diameter of the tubing? (to order the right clamp size)

Really it doesn't matter what I think BUT :

Unless you have some major medical condition that requires it... why the hell would you put something like that on a SPORTS bike like a K1200S or R. On a cruiser ... sure... but something with the lines of a thoroughbred... don't you dare!

Feel free to ignore my comments... no flaming please... just my opinion. Maybe others think it would look good... any other opinions?

I think there is a point to the crash guards, but not for mounting cruiser pegs. Not sure how that would feel reaching for the bars and having your feet reaching for those pegs. I know it would funny though!!

Last Saturday I had a 450 miles ride. towards the end of the day my right knee (operated on about a year ago) was hurting quite a bit, I found myself stretching my foot forward for relief . A highway peg would allow me to "rest" my knee when needed, of course there is another option and that is to get myself a Goldwing for long rides.

i like my K12R fast and sleek but i also like long rides.
for me to survive long days in the saddle i had to make some changes to the bike. i trimmed the seat down so my bottom has a wider support surface.
i have cruising pegs for my legs to stretch and reposition so my knees don't ache. i like the bike and have no desire to ride a goldwing or harley or a moped/scooter. when i want to fly like an eagle i fold back the cruising pegs point the nose down and hold on tight. i am not concerned what anyone else thinks about my mods to the bike. the mods benefit me and no one else.

On those pictures, your bars touch down before your foot pegs???
If thats true, you would be able to touch the engine around the same time as your pegs...

It's true, but I haven't tried track riding without the bars. But my pegs are in stock location so my bike wouldn't be any different than any other stock K12R.

I had the same engine protection bars and was having great fun scraping the bars on corners at a track day until they dug in.
Lost the front end at 80kph and slide across the track infront of an R1 nearly taking him out.

I have changed the bars out for a smaller type wich don't compromise the ground clearance.

I am also looking at highway pegs( regardless of what any smug bastard says who only does 10 minute trips). When you live in the country and frequenly do over 600km /day and rarely come across a bend in the road, you don't trade your sports bike in for a cruiser because you appreciate the bendy roads when you get to them. You can modify a sports bike to be comfortable but you can't increase the clearance of a cruiser when you need it.

I have installed the German after-market engine guards + foldable highway pegs and shimmed the peg attachment clamps with rubber stock to fit the metric pipe dimension (my pegs are from Wisconsin; I forget the brand).

Most people can't even see them, although that's a secondary consideration: the pegs work; I have additional possibilities for changing riding positions, and that contributes to my comfort and safety over long touring hauls.

I SO wish there was a way to get some highway pegs on my S. Late August I did a 7-day, 3500mile run from Minnesota to Vermont. Everything stock except the Throttlemeister. While I was more comfortable that I figured I deserved to be, some pegs would have been nice - if for no reason that the change in leg position gives way to the change in butt position.

Pegs on the S is more of a challenge than on the R, but I haven't given up. Some ingenuity and technical skill beyond mine will prolly be required, but its gotta be possible.

Did you try moving your feet a bit ?
Also shifting on the seat towards rear wheel helps a lot.
