GT 1600 Windsheild Upgrade

Postby Mr.Bill on Thu Mar 22, 2012 11:19 pm

I couldn't stand the buffetting and wind noise from the stock unit any longer,it's in the garbage now where it belongs. I bought a California Scientific large touring model about 1 inch higher than the top of the two peaks, they have numerous choices based on your height and what you want. This is the best aftermarket unit I've ever used, 70% less wind noise and buffetting and you can listen to the radio at low levels, their product works as advertised . There is an opening in the lower portion of the screen and after a rain ride made no difference to me regarding getting wetter so it's not a concern at all. Greta help from them in getting the right size for your height and quick shipment
Highly Recommended!! :D

As you recommend Californi Scientific, i bought XL XW screen from there. The product was garbage. Screen was overheated and surface is melted. Vision is blurry through it. I send email in there and want to change it to proper one. So far nothing good to say.

I have paid screen, shipping and customs so far. I said i'm not gonna pay shipping it back, if they want it and i want proper product i have paid for. I sent this image to them:

They said it's overheated. That screen is garbage. I said i expect new one shipped to me without any extra costs and i don't see a point to bother to send that garbage to other side of the world. No replies in few days. How does it go in US? If customer return something, is California Scientific responsible to pay return costs and how it does happen?

I hope this has a happy end, but start to be a little suspicious with this.

Cee Baileys Aircraft has developed a new windshield for the K16's, supposed to be the best in the business.

I saw that vented visor. I think i order one later and dumb that useless calsci garbage screen. They won't send me new one free. I supposed to pay from it. What kind of company first send defected product and if client complains and want decent product they dare ask more money. You can see from picture that it is melted and they admit it. I'm not taking that risk and pay for new garbage from them. I can't order anything now as i'm travelling too much...

Do they not realise that you're a moderator for one of the biggest BMW forums? They should be giving you the screen for free, to test, and do a write up on not giving you the run around about a replacement for a faulty item.

Calsci are off my list of suppliers for sure. :ncool:

Well, i don't mind to pay for decent products. I saw in other forum, that they have send new screen to someone who had bubble somewhere. They send new screen with return label. I mentioned it and would accept that, but they said no. It's not their policy. I saw in their site, that they have now also xxl xw screen, which is $15 more expensive. I said i can pay the difference and change the faulty one for that. They said no, they will not send me any "free" screens. I could get xxl xw half price and i don't have to send this faulty item to them. That's the best offer they gave. Hmm, should i take it? I could possible get proper screen finally and the costs is only $225 + $240/2 + two shippings + two customs... over 500 euros or close to 700 dollars. Too much from one proper screen, if they could make any. I could send this back for a credit, but my loss would be two shippings and customs, which would make more than half of the price. I would rather keep this as evidence of bad customer service, hang it in my garage and use it as stress releasing kickboxing target. At least they can't send this garbage to next victim.

Personally Eka I would be VERY reluctant to purchase anything else from them. Not in MY policy. Who's to say they won't send you another crap screen and charge you for the privilege. $700 for one, possible, good screen is way to much to ask. I would pursue getting your money back through the credit card you used to purchase with.

Their quality control sounds questionable if they've sent you a overheated screen and another customer one with a bubble in it.

Gents, if they sent you a defective screen THEY should pay the costs associated with shipping a new one and also send a label to ship the other one back. Since their offer falls far short of this, I would recommend doing three things:

(1) Call your credit card company and tell them you refuse to pay the charge, you want it removed from your bill, and explain why. This will start a formal dispute / complaint process by your credit card company with the vendor.

(2) Write a letter and file a complaint with both the Better Business Bureau for their location in California and with the California attorney general's office.

(3) Use the court of public opinion to get some satisfaction. To start with, I'd start a new post with a title with the name of the company in it along with the 'defective windshield'. That way it will start to come up in internet searches, and they won't want this out there that blatantly. The problem with bitching about this in this current post is you have to really read the details of the thread to figure who the guilty vendor is. You need their name in the post ... make their crappy customer service obvious and painful.

My two cents.

Thanks, that bbb.org was what i was looking for. I send there complain. Next week i will send reclamation to credit card company, if that bbb does not help anything. I don't want to make more mess and reclaim new screen and in the other direction my money back. If that won't help, i have plenty of forum links. If in the end i have lost my money, so will be his - fair play.

Have you talked to them on the phone? They where helpfull in every way with me. It's hard to beleive it's the same company. If your screen has a slight blue hue ti it it will slowly go away as the weather gets warmer.Did you take the film coating off? Good luck

I ordered that Isotta screen yesterday. I hope it's better than that CalSci crap.
