Have been a lurker for many years. At that time I had an R1100S and the K bike was all the buzz. Since the R1100S, I've acquired a gs, brutale, and the KR: all excellent rides, all perfect for different purposes. I commute daily across the bay bridge to work in SF where I'm a lawyer. My weekend rides alternate between the gs and kr. I've been riding since I was 16, approx. 40+ years ago. Following modifications to my kr: bar end mirrors; ktm handguards; custom seat; racing air filters (with left air box cut-out); Leo Vince slip-on; oversized windscreen; RG frame sliders.

Jamie, you must be talking about your fellow countryman and not a good looking Welshman like me.

2 - have wonderful pictures of last few bike trips to alaska, yukon, california & oregon...however the only pics i have are on a long defunct website which leads to 3
3- hopefully i can figure out how to post those at least to give an idea who i am
4 - other pics are on facebook which i dont think i can link here

maybe i will find a photo hosting website when i peel myself away from a forum!

Great pic's freakhead, I take it the one with the T1000R was a time ago.

If you are looking for photo hosting, I use phtobucket and find it easy to use.

It wont be long now till your bike arrives.

Sadly time catches up...would that I could go back...that photo is almost 10 years old. Riding the beach on the north tip of Queen Charlotte Islands was about 6 years ago.

I will try and hit that photobucket soon, thanks!

Hi Cybtech,

So you went from a ZZR1400 to a K1200S. May I ask what made you trade?

Nice black K1200S by the way.

Cheers,
Delirious.
S1000RR arrived 29/01/11
R1200GS arrived 08/03/08 - 28,000km's and counting.

Previous:
Ducati 1098S - 8,000km's and swapped for S1000RR.
K1200S - 20,000km's and crashed at the race track.
VFR800 VTEC - 45,000km's and swapped for R1200GS

Welcome Arnaud,

No problem about being French and that comes from a Brit so can't be too bad.

Very nice bike and a good indorsement if you have come from a ZZR 1400.

What was the reason for the change?

Well, thanks for the welcome :)

As for the ZZR1400, i never felt "at home" so to speak. And the ABS system is a real catastrofy (not sure about the seplling of this last word).

Along with other things, it wasn't as stable at speed as the ZX12R i use to have for a little more than 4 years. And i don't like to have to make modifications only to have the full potential of a motorcycle. Beside, the frame and the overall bike wasn't as good as it should or as you expect when paying this much.

In other words, i didn't liked it! If i had a second bike to buy it would be another ZX12R after 2002...

And, for the moment, i'm really happy i bought a K12S! I just have to derestrict it now. Bloody french 100ps law!!!

Hi Arnaud,

Thanks for letting us know why you choose the K1200S over the ZZR1400. Most UK bike magazines like the K1200S and give the same reasons you have for your ownership.

I wouldn't worry about your spelling, I struggle and it is my language. I am embarrassed to say that your English is far better than my French and I have a house in your beautiful land.

Hi Shiva,

i'm just looking for a picture from above of what i could see if i just remove the tank of the K12S just to have an idea of what to expect as i want to remove the little thingy that prevent the full opening of the primary flies.

That's a part of the french restriction.

The second part (the software) will be done next week as i'll go in belgium.

I know, perhaps i didn't search enough but the forum is big...
