KIWIBRI, welcome to the forum. I have 100,000 miles + on K bikes alone and I may have dropped them 2 or 3 times in drive ways and none in the past several years and no press bike up to this time. I wouldn't get slides if I were you. the reason for the bike drop in parking lot, was simply that I was jet lagged and tired from the ride. no biggie as it turned out to be a good thing.

DAY 3 -

A Simply Amazing Day with lots of videos, pics, onboard videos and more. It's a blast to ride out here, really NY simply sucks for high power bikes. They are made for roads like these, wide, smooth, bike friendly, no potholes and fast.... A buddy of mine tried to do a street race north of LA with me and I opened the K13S wide open in 1st. It was like watching a jet fighter taking off. Just amazing. Of course two blocks later, I saw a police car with cops getting out of the car, and did a hard slowdown with ABS kidding in and all. What fun!

Lots more to cover, but it's time for a shower and dinner with friend in Venice, CA... :)

I think with this journey I am trying to rediscover my motorcycling soul: Fast and Free!

And the best is yet to come!!!

Shiva, You've probably considered this already, but whenever traveling in remote areas, like the Nevada dessert, I pack an extra quart of oil in case of emergency... You may consume more oil as you exploit the K's... virtues there. :D

Looking forward to the pics and ids!

Anyone who rides has dropped a bike, usually towards the end of the day when fatigue is starting. No big deal.

Glad it was easy to fix the problems and hope the rest of the trip goes smoothly.

The Rock Store

As I mentioned above the weekend was a blast. Riding the K13 through the canyons was specially fun. We took the PCH, through Malibu to get to the Rock Store and the canyon roads leading up to the Rock Store as very exciting. I have ridden on the Dragon and as crazy and hyper twisty as it is, these canyons roads are on par if not in some ways even more exciting.

DAY 4 - LA to VEGAS (the Bonneville Trip)

I am headed to Vegas shortly on my way to Wendover, UT for BUB Speed Trials at Bonneville Slat Flats. I have lots of pics and videos to share already, but need to find time to work on them. So stay tuned. :)

Larry Romestant - K Bike Tuner

Sharing one pic from video interview that I did with Larry on Sunday. As I said, I have lots of media and will bring them to you as I find time to work on them. Larry's bikes look simply amazing, the attention to detail is incredible.

STAGE 2 - LA to VEGAS to WENDOVER, UT - Las Vegas

A fast ride to Vegas from LA. I have decided to stay over tonight, instead of pushing on toward Wendover. :)

The TPX Radar saved me from potential tickets 3 times on this 300 mile ride... :) Nice job Wayne, and thanks for the install on the Press bike. :)

Hi Shiva,

Good to hear that you've made it safe and sound. It's a shame that Angeles Crest Highway was closed or else it would've made your ride out to Vegas a bit more enjoyable instead of the dreaded I-10.

Have fun in the back roads of Nevada today... you should be able to really open up the bike, just make sure to go no faster than the posted speed limit when you get into them middle-of-nowhere Nevada towns.

DAY 5- STAGE 2 - LA - VEGAS - BONNEVILLE SALT FLATS
Today: Vegas to Wendover, UT / Bonneville Salt Flats - 400 Miles or 645 km

I left Vegas late morning to finalize Stage 2 and get to Bonneville, to cover mostly what San Jose BMW is doing on the Salt. They are running several bikes, including a S1000RR and a HP2 Sport on the Salt. I did 400 miles.

I didn't think it would be possible to get used to such high speeds, but after 90 min on these roads, 100 mph becomes norm. These roads are wide open, and are in excellent shape. They are very smooth

These roads are made for K bikes. It's absolutely incredible how comfortable you can hit speeds of 150+. The Duolever front suspension, mixed with Paralever, mated to the specially long wheelbase keeps this bike totally planted. The K13S is a speed demon. And the brakes are truly awesome at any speed.

The image below is just to give you a hint of the state of nothingness, married to perfect roads. it's an irresistible combination. But be warned if you are planning to ride Nevada, make sure you have a good radar detector. I got hit by Instant On by 5 state troopers. None had the KA gun left on always on, they all used instant on and luckily thanks for Wayne's Adaptive TPX Radar and being hyper vigilant, I managed to keep the bike at and around the limit when I spotted them. The speed limit on most of these roads is about 70mph.

More to come. Time to get some dinner. Riding fast for very long periods is draining, because you have to focus intensely for long periods. But what a rush. Really I got such rush hitting 162 (on GPS) [260km]. I know our members red line in 6th gear routinely, but in many countries is damn near impossible to get seriously fast. Even in Nevada, although the roads are incredible, so is the weather, there is plenty of enforcement!

Glad you are enjoying Shiva; much better than Las Vegas IMHO.

And, yes, concur, extended triple digit riding does tire more due to the additional attention required.

Was the radar triggered within 20-30 mile of towns, or on the open road?

I guess the travel bag is doing ok at high speeds(?).

Shiva, to follow on what Ed asked, what roads and where are you getting the radar hits. I generally don't ride either 50 or 93 as that is where the road Vampires prey.

Now 395 or 318 is another story.

I ran thru an entire tank of gas on my R1200ST in the 110 miles from Rachel to Tonopah.
