The Schuberth Helmet Files

Postby TrophyMike on Sat Nov 06, 2010 10:22 am

We're thrilled Schuberth GmbH has brought back their fine helmet line to America. Ten years ago Trophy Cycle Apparel was one of the first dealers to introduce the original Schuberth Concept helmet later to be superseded by the C2. It had everything our clients wanted -- ease of operation, ECE rating, extreme quiet and the best internal sun visor system in the business. When distribution began to waiver then end altogether we did our best to scrounge product and parts and apologize for not always being able to meet expectations. Finally after a few quiet seasons we heard from Schuberth North America and eagerly jumped on board. We now have the all new C3 in limited release with more product slated in the next months. Some of the key features of the Schuberth C3:

*Aeroacoustic wind tunnel tested extremely quiet low noise rating (84dBA at 62 mph)
*One touch flip-up chin bar and anti-fog retractable sun visor
*S.T.R.O.N.G. Fiber Shell Construction and Modular EPS Inner Liner
*Weighs only 3.6 lbs
*DOT and ECE-R 22.05 certified supersedes all Snell requirements
*Anti-Roll-Off-System ensures helmet from pivoting off head from behind
*Removable washable COOLMAX pad system
*Easy-change Pinlock Visor is double glazed for condensation free operation
*Active chin/visor venting and air intake, passive ventilation prevents CO2 concentration
*SRC rider fully integrated Bluetooth communication system available
*Dedicated models for Men and Women (designed for smaller head and narrower face)
*Made in Germany

Schuberth was and remains our "pick" for the best modular flip-up helmet you can buy. That's why we don't sell its competition. Whether it be a jacket, glove, boot or helmet we simply search out the best possible product, stock it and make it our sole recommendation. No second or third tier merchandise, no quick-buck closeouts on inferior gear, no stuff just to fill space cyber or otherwise. Trophy Cycle Apparel is selective, to a fault, which accounts for us hosting Schuberth along with such higher-end brands as Vanson, Rukka, Held and Vendramini.

Your questions, comparisons and problems are all encouraged here. For immediate off-forum response please call 800-315-9935 or email info@trophycycleapparel.com. We are getting more manufacturer news daily and are here as a useful resource to anyone who has owned or is contemplating a Schuberth. Welcome back.

Sniff ... sniff ... sniff....

smells like spam.

I drove 190 miles to take a look at and try on the much hyped Schuberth C3 last Friday (not at this dealer, but at a very helpful dealer in a state adjacent to mine).

I measure for their L size. I tried on both the L (way too tight even in the crown, so there's something about their shape that doesn't match mine), and the XL (better fit in the crown, but way off from top to bottom.

Neither helmet gave me that "light" sensation that is strongly advertised. I could not really wear either one, so I passed.

I have owned movable chin bar helmets from HJC, Shoei, and Nolan for comparison. The Shoei and Nolan fit me best. The Shoei does not feel heavier than the Schuberth on my head.

If you're interested in a Schuberth, don't order one via the internet. Go somewhere where you can try it on and see what you think for yourself. You might think its the greatest helmet in the world, but there are other valid opinions too.

The Schuberth will fit most people but not all. It is considered an intermediate rounded oval. Like some other modular helmets if you have an extremely long head it is not for you. As suggested a live try-on is your best bet for proper fit. Schuberth has never had the dealer network of more mainstream brands so if internet is your only option pick an experienced outfit.
