Here's our Policy. Please take special note of point 20 & 21.

As a veteran of online forums, I have learned a thing or two about what works on BBs.

Here's a basic common sense guide and forum policy rolled into one:
1- Feel free to express yourself. It's perfectly OK if others don't agree with every point that you make. BUT KEEP IT POSITIVE.
2- Don't worry too much about making mistakes. Someone will correct you sooner or later and you'll be better for it.
3- Remember to have fun!
4- Respect the members on this forum at all times. Don't insult. NO NEGATIVE REMARKS. NO BANTER. NO BASHING.
5- If you don't like someone, or some post, just ignore them. Stay positive. This forum is not about you, or your ego. Live and let live.
6- The forum administrator reserves the right to delete any post that he deems inappropriate, without providing explanation.
7- The forum administrator reserves the right to delete or ban any member that he deems harmful to the harmony of this community, without providing explanation.
8- No commercial announcements of any kind allowed without prior permission from the forum administrator. All commercial posts should be placed in our Vendor's Area.
9- It's OK to flirt.
10- No !!SPAMMER!! DELETE THIS THREAD images of any kind. Keep this BB elegantly tasteful. Many of our members will be dropping by from public places such as, work, libraries, Internet cafés (while traveling) and no need to surprise or embarrass them. There are 1 Trillion+ images of !!SPAMMER!! DELETE THIS THREAD men and women on the 'net, find another venue for your hobby. Bikini shots, bike show babes, umbrella girls and such as OK.
11- If something or someone is directly bugging you, let your friendly forum administrator know immediately (preferably via e-mail).
12- It's not cool to over post. It will diminish the impact of your posts if you spread yourself too thin on any discussion board.
13- Avoid posting ultra long messages. Rarely do people come on discussion boards willing to read more than 3 or 4 paragraphs. These types of very long messages, generally create a negative vibe for the poster.
14- 3 strikes and you are out. This is valid only to established members with over 100 posts. If I warn you twice about your negative posts, the third time you are automatically removed as a member. None established members will receive no such warning or privilege.
15- Links to other BMW forums are allowed, however the discretion of the forum administrator may apply.
16- Try to stay out of threads that aren't meant for you, or interest you. If a thread is about people who like X and you happen to hate X, stay out of it. Your negative comment would be unrelated to that topic.
17- The universe will not shut down, just because you disagree with someone else's opinion. Your opinions do not run this forum.
18- Remain a student, eager to learn. If you think you know it all, you probably don't need to be here.
19- There is no discussion of religion allowed on this forum. Promotion of your own religion or faith is strictly forbidden. This is an international web site with people of varied beliefs, no one's is superior to the other.
20- It is not permitted, for anyone to register just to place negative posts. All intentional attacks and negative posts will be deleted and their posters banned.
21- Please note that you are on a privately owned and maintained web site with strict guidelines. This forum allows people to participate in its process by choice and not obligation. If you abuse this privilege you will be banned.

22- Do not type with caps lock on, or type with all caps or all capital letters. On the web that's signifies shouting or yelling. All such posts will be deleted.

Philly Flier - can't wait!

Postby BillR4 on Mon Jun 07, 2004 7:11 am

I hope to be one of the first in the Philly area to get one of these bad boys. I checked out the K1200GT last year but decided to wait based on rumors of "something special" coming soon. Special indeed.

Hi Bill, Welcome to the site. I am not sure when was the last time I got this interested in a bike. I am happy with my K12RS, now with about 50K miles on it. Jap bikes don't push the right button for me, nor do Ducatis. MV's as fine as they are, aren't the kind of bikes you feel comfortable putting "bmw" mileage on. A Blackbird beater with shaft drive and European styling, is right after my own heart. S

Hello everone! OK, just so everyone knows where i'm coming from, I ride an 82 R100 (that's an airhead, to you kids out there!) set up like a traditional 's' bike. Two into one Mac headers, Koni's, black on black paint, Metzlers(what else?) and so on. I like old school however I'm not that much of an old fart that I don't appreciate modern rides! I have been drooling over a k1200RS over the last year and was ready to buy. However, this K12S has got me very interested! I was thinking tonight that maybe I should head down to my local dealer and put a deposit down on this new machine. I hope that the pricing is in the neighborhood of the RS. Yes, i think that I've got to have it! Kudos to Shahram, once again an excellent job!!! geoff

Geoff, Welcome to the Forum. I think the pricing is going to be the same as the K12RS. US$17/18K. Glad to have you with us. Best, S

Hello from the promised land...

Postby Masis on Wed Jun 09, 2004 12:02 am

Shiva,
Nice site but I take objection to your comment "can't do BMW miles" on other bikes...as if BMW has cornered the market on the long haul! Granted, you can do so in comfort, but dare I say the pain of a 6oo mile day aboard an MV hurts sooo good!

Lookin' forward to a test ride on a K12S,
Masis

K1200S - A SuperSport Tourer??

Postby Voyager on Sun Jun 27, 2004 1:05 pm

I currently own a Buell and a Yamaha cruiser. But, I am planning on selling both bikes and moving up to a Yamaha FJR 1300 SuperSport Tourer. I'm guessing the K1200S will be competition for the FJR 1300 (the Honda ST1300 is too fat and under powered), but I don't see any mention of side bags and touring accessories, etc.

If there is a SuperSport Tourer package available for the K1200S, I will be very interested in this model, and will gladly wait until next fall to determine my next purchase. But, if that is not their intention, please let me know and I will pursue the FJR 1300.

Thanks,
Voyager

Hi Voyager, Welcome to the site. The K1200S is the competition for Suzuki Hayabusa and Honda Blackbird. In about a year or so the GT version of this bike should be available, which would kick the living daylights out of FJR1300, ST1300, Ducati ST4S and a like, with 170HP at the crank and final wet weight lighter than the FJR. If you are in no extreme rush, I would wait about a year for the next generation K1200GT. Hope this helps, S

Welcome to the site, UFO. Thanks for your comments. K11RS used to get real hot too, and that was one reason that I didn't keep it. Somehow with the K12RS they totally solved the heat issue. I hope this new bike doesn't have any such issues.

Cheers, S
