So would anybody have a take on this, would it be able to retrofit the OEM heated grip from a MY2012 on a fully loaded MY2010 :?:

In a word, Yes.

My local dealer already has done heated grips on 2 S1000RR's, a '10 and an '11. Don't know which model's parts they used though. Look at your right switch pod, you will see an outline for the switch on top, like they planned it from the beginning.

No Problem!

Are heated grips that big a deal? I have never ridden a bike with them, I just use my Gerbings gloves.

Hi Gonzo :)

I'm talking from my experience: a Big yes!. You can use it in two temperatures Lo: from 17ºC to 12ªC and Hi below 12 until you don't feel your fingers. IMO very useful :)

+1 ... heated grips are great. They not only provide comfort, they help you maintain dexterity in your fingers.

Here in Scandinavia heated grips are a must have  , or else your limited to riding only 6 to 8 month a year

My "problem" is that I´m looking into a deal on a S1000RR MY2010, and I need the heated grips badly, - this could actually be the first step into my 2 bike dream scenario. 1 x S1000RR + 1 x K1600GT, might have to let go of my present MY2009 K1300S though.
