Removing Baffle from BMW Akrapovic slip-on

Postby imeyers on Sat May 12, 2012 7:36 pm

I have a 2012 K1300HP and am trying to remove the baffle from the akrapovic slip on. I was able to break the little tac welded nut free no problem but the baffle won't budge. Anyone know if it can be removed? I saw a YouTube video but I want to make sure it can be removed on the BMW akra before I try again.

I don't have had BMW Akrapovic, but usually those baffles are so tight that you have to take grip somewhere with and use hammer to get it out.

Gotta be some trick. Maybe take the exhaust off. Not sure. Its really in there, or at least seems to be. I know I should use a little more force probably but just want to make sure the baffle of the OEM slip on can be pulled out after removing the screw, or if there is something else to it.

Well with a little elbow grease and some patience I was able to remove the db killer. Trying it out tomorrow morning. If it is to loud I can put it right back in. Guess I was lucky. The tac weld on the bolt was almost nonexistent.

After riding today I can say without a doubt that the baffle will never see the light of day again. I absolutely love the sound. Anyone who has the akra can has to at least try it out at least once. Really makes the bike sound phenomenal. If you wanna hear the pops from the quick shifter and during engine braking you will not be dissapointed. Gives it a deep throaty sound. :P

Once you remove the nut it takes a good amount of force to pull out the baffle, but once out you will never want to put it back in. Bike is still fairly subdued sound wise when cruising but open the tap and it sounds like a beast now. Best free upgrade for anyone with an akrapovic.
