Congrats BMW S1000RR!!!

Well, enough time has gone by that this shouldn't spoil it for anyone.

I'm a bit surprised that this hasn't been mentioned yet, BMW and the S1000RR got their first win in WSBK on the weekend at Donington Park. In fact, OUR bike finished 1st and 2nd in race one and was heading for a similar result in race two when "the incident" occurred.

A win at that level with such a young program is absolutely amazing and says so much for our new toy.

Congratulations to Marco, Leon, the entire race and development teams/riders, and to BMW. Your success is our gain.

with such a young program

young? in dog years or human years. :) They started in WSBK in 2009 and they got first place in 2012. Hopefully it's not a fluke and they can actually maintain. The real indicator is if they can get another first place this year. :)

Thanks guys, now I know to check other areas as well as I had gone for the one with "racing" written in its' summary.

Re "young program", I meant that I think it's a compliment to the bike and program as learning all of the tracks and establishing data for baseline settings, especially with respect to gearing, suspension and mapping from scratch (I know lots of information can mysteriously become available to people), can be difficult. This can take time. To have quickly become competitive and a threat is very impressive.

Many new programs of the past have not had the success that this one has thus far and they should be proud. They are up against stiff talent on very good equipment with loads of data and experience behind them. I am not worried about this being a fluke nor, do I think, are any others among us.

I feel your comments, Shiva, were tongue in cheek. We all want so much success for the guys and the bike that we can be a bit impatient. I'm glad you want them winning consistently, yesterday. We all love our bikes and have our loyalties. This is also largely because of what success will mean to the brand, and the bikes, down the road but this young pup (to continue your dog theme) is still maturing and has already shown it has some teeth. Sick 'em!!!

Enjoy the rest of the season, I'm confident I will!

As long as they avoid acting like bowling pins again they should be fine.
