camshaft

the start of the issues was the battery, and 200km later i started hearing a noise. when driving at constant speed and constant throttle opening the bike was doing a noise as if as only running 3 cliniders... so i went back to the shop..
the mechanic said no worries all ok it's normal..
100km after the noise was increasig so i went to another dealer/ mechanic. he turned on the engine and said leave it here and don't turn it on!
tomorrow the BMW technician (technical delegate) will see the bike ( it's almost a month the bike is at the dealer)
it looks there is a supply of camshafts that suddenly looses the hardened surface. Bmw is"proactively" hiding, if the bike breaks they will react. production involved is around May2010 they don't want to disclose how many are involved.
as a secondary problem caused by the same main issue, the gearbox and in particular the desmo mechanism that allows changing gear gets damaged by the metal particles that fall in the oil.
a pure speculation from 2 bmw sites( there is no official count on this) says about 100 bikes involved in Italy only.
keep you posted on this... but i'm getting more and more "pis....off"

after 2 months of bike stop at the dealer, ( thank you bmw, as usual you are right after your clients, in italy we add also "with ironcast underwear just in case"..) all was ok according to the tech guy from bmw but my bike was still running at 3 when just peeling the accellerator. this short bizarre human being has no clue of what means driving slow.. i told him if you open up the bike is ok but if you drive 2 gear at 40mph it's gurgling.. and from exaust strange noise.
typical of bmw when they do not want to admit they have a problem. gearbox also was hard as a rock and neutral was seen once in the last 5 months:)
so with the official letter saying the bike was perfect i went to the dealer to exchange it to a my12.

very good treatment.
i basically paid the vat..
now waiting for the bolts to be changed and glued
see you with my12
