Got my Corbin Seat custom made last Saturday. George & his crew took care of us. That process of using their ride-in service is a great option. We basically started with the stock 3 piece setup as pictured earlier. We chose a simpler pattern for the vinyl sides. (the stock seat that we saw has more pattern in the vinyl than I like). I kept the stock pattern for the top leather with the extra tufts. Yes, it is heavier than the Seargeant, but that's what all that horsepower is for. I still like the stock seat for fast riding alone.

We tried the stock Corbin seat first. My wife is tiny, so she wanted more cushion on the backrest. They added about 2". We went for a test ride and she said it was comfortable. I was sitting a bit too far back so they added about 3/4" foam to the back of my seat.

It took a bit of finessing to get the installation right. It took about 4 hours total time. A free breakfast at the cafe and conversation with other riders made the time fly by.

What I love is that they will adjust it free of charge is we want to make changes after we ride it for a while. Be went off and rode about 300 miles. We may have them redo the backrest padding with a bit more contour.

One other item. I bought the seat through my dealer- Richard at Diablo BMW in Walnut Creek, CA. The price was about 20% less than buying from Corbin direct. That made it about the same price as the Sargent.

Yes, it is a pod, opens up for storage, the passenger seat attaches with a couple of cams, and there is a back rest. There is even lights in the storage pod.

Only drawback is that you have to either have the passenger seat, or not. Cant go from the pod to the seat on the fly.

My feeling is that the back pod part just looks like an after thought.
I sure it look nice with the pod removed.

Yes it's a sargent.

Yeah, Im not 100% on the black on the seat pod. It does match the matte black finish around the tail light though. I guess I could always have it painted to match if it really bugged me. I will tell you, I have had so many compliments since I installed the pod, from bikers and non bikers alike.

Bad Breath

That's only my opinion so it not worth that much. All that counts is if you like it or not. I have seen several K12S that I like the rear modification most the rear pods don’t cut it. I had my original seat covered in leather and it was great for a while then the leather got hard and I had to purchase another stock seat. I considered buying a Sargent but the pricing is ridiculous, the Corbin even worst.

As bike go the K1200s is not bad, if your really uncomfortable try an Air Hawk and save $500 it will be just a comfortable.

I think this looks like a nicely executed rear pod. some work better than others I agree, but this one works. if I had a K12S, i am not sure whether I would have used the pod or continued using my Ztech strap on pod... so are you guys happy with your sargent seats now?

I have had no bad luck with my bike, but only 8000km so far. I am pretty happy so far. My dealer also offers loaner bikes if you purchased your bike from him... So long waits shouldn't ever be a big problem for me.... I might get to try out a r1200s or something if I ever have a break down. My only complaint is that Im on my 3rd rear tire..... :D

After two months of ownership, and much, much longer waiting for the product to be available, I wanted to give my opinion on a subject that seems to have generated a lot of interest. I bought the full package from Sargent; the rider seat, the pod, the pillion seat and backrest. The main reasons for buying it were twofold:
1. To have a more secure and better looking way of carrying phone, wallet, camera, visor cleaner, disk lock and the accessories needed to cope with a very changeable climate, than a tank bag. The pod appeared to offer a better alternative.
2. I wanted the wider passenger seat and backrest to give my wife, an occasional pillion, a greater feeling of security.

My observations so far:
* The pod is excellent as a mini boot (trunk). As it is smaller than a tank bag it has forced me to be more selective about what I carry but that's no bad thing. If you had a few minutes and a large screwdriver you could probably force it open but for a filling station stop it is a much more secure.
* My wife is much more confident with the new seat and backrest in place - result!
* Yes it looks weird to have the backrest in place but that would be true with any backrest, on any sports type bike. In my case it is mounted for maybe 10% of the time and after use I quickly revert to the rider seat/pod combo.
* IMHO the rider seat/pod is better looking than the original seat.
* The original seat is a b***h to remove/refit. The Sargent seat works first click every time.
* I would say the Sargent seat build quality is similar to the stock seat
* I didn't have a comfort problem with the stock seat but the Sargent is a little more comfortable for me on a longer ride (200 miles plus)
* The shape of the Sargent, with more defined edges, seems to make it easier to hang off in cornering, knowing exactly where you are positioned. Plus the taller rear stop on the rider seat gives some stability under hard acceleration
* The Sargent seat has slightly more friction than the BMW seat and I slide forward a lot less downhill and under braking

Downsides? Well its not cheap, especially for anyone living outside of the US. But apart from that I am very pleased with my purchase. It was worth the wait.
Good riding.

Love the Sargent World Sport seat. Firm, more comfy and cut better than stock and the pod is a perfect color match. All of the workmanship is really top notch and extremely professional. Love it!

I ordered the Corbin and it has been horrible so far. The fit and finish is very bad so they are picking it up for a retry but I'm not hopeful.

If you find a leather shop you can get the stop seat reformed and form to fit you Arse. Some mexicans guys did mine a it cost $120 and it's real leather.

I am doing a review of a Sargent seat as part of my long-term review of an '08 K12S.

Here is a video overview of the Sargent seat. Make sure to select "Watch In High Quality" an option available with this video on YouTube.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=F4BF1zat-Qs

This is a beautifully made seat, that fits the bike quite nicely. Unlike Corbin that weighs quite a bit, the Sargent is incredibly light.

Watch the video for an overview of this seat and the storage pod.

More to come as I put more mileage on it... :) S

For what is cost it better be dam comfortable. I have a Sargent on my FZ1 it’s much better than stock, however that’s not saying much.

I always wonded who's arse did they model these on.

If your not part of the solution, be part of the problem.
