What have I learned by being part of this forum

Ok, this is a mind dump and I invite you to be succint in what you have learned that you actually put into play. Really, tell me what you have done to your KS from this forum, its a learning experience and a tribute.

I'll start:
1) I learned that my flicking gear indicator is due to a faulty sensor at the the trans and now I can go to the dealer and TELL him what the problem is.
2) I've got to complain about my Corbin seat and truthfully the support I've gotten has helped.
3) I was able to select the Remus cone, though there are good alternatives, and I love it and it fits my bike and me.
4) I've always wanted some carbon fiber and now I know exactly where to go and can order with confidence due to my buds here.
5) Shiva has confirmed that "big" riders should ride ESA with one rider up plus baggage as this fits my weight. What a HUGE difference its made.
6) I've been able to share my TPM story with others and I think I've helped them. Some couldn't care but some of us (like me) live by it.
7) I understood the servo 06 versus 07 brakes and was able to make a decision that was right for me.
I've learned that as awesome as the four under the seat exhaust is and as beautiful it is it is not for me.

9) I knew my price for the KS wasn't a steal but right on the money.
I wish I could round this out with a top ten but nine is what I've gotten.

Oh, number 10 afterall, I wanted a new lid and the info I got supported my decision for a Shoei X11 and I love the freaking thing! My girl rides with the Shoie Flutter (pink of course) and thanks you too!

I also wanted to thank Shiva for not knocking me down to Lost Puppy for commenting on his riding without a helmet! We're an awesome group and I'm proud to be a part of this. I rode a VFR and loved it but I've found my crowd. God bless us all.

learn more about our bikes
talk to like minded people about our beloved machines
show off our creations
share and get some new ideas and
make some great friends

and we can even talk about other brands and non-bike related issues.

Through time I have come to realize, there is not a problem – or for that matter a future problem - that will not be discussed here……..a sort of “One Stop Shop”


Man I just love this place and given the wealth of knowledge on offer here……for free, I regard myself as privileged to be able to call it my “motorcycle home”

wgreen, thanks for this note. people like you are the inspiration behind creating this forum. when one gets tired of all the BS, chatter, bickering, back stabbings, flames and insults that goes on, on many other forums, a place like ours is meant as a haven for those of us with higher standards.

Maybe worth to mention, but I learned to be more humble when it comes to my knowledge. I think the magnitude of experience and knowledge this forum shares is truly amazing. Not to mention, the nice people I got to know here.

Good note WGreene & all.

i have not even received my k1200r (week and a half yet) but i have enjoyed the form and feedback (and respect). the forum is not too busy (winter?) but it makes it easy to track, more personable and I don't see the flaming that fills up so many other forums.

Like WGreene I will be going away from a VFR and hope to be as pleased.

What I found from this forum was that I needed a K1200S. In the 1yr or so it took me to purchase the bike this forum kept me excited about the bike and kept on confirming more and more that I needed one. When I finally purchased my KS, about 18 months ago now, I was not in anyway disappointed and it proved to be everything that everyone said about it on here. (the good points that is )

Today my VFR goes to the BMW dealer and next week I pick up a new '08 R1200GS. I think this together with the K1200S is my ideal garage. Maybe room for Ducati in there somewhere

Interesting in this short post that 3 people are/have going away from VFR's to the K1200! The F800 was to be the VFR fighter.

Imo the F does not match the VFR.

We wanted to change from the VFR to the F. After extensive test rides decided against it

It was the test ride that turned me off of the F800 too. The Canadian mags reported it would try and take the VFR market which is why I looked at it.

Then I found the K and true love.....less than a week hopefully it will be in my garage (though it snowed again last nite!)
