Don't fancy having to unscrew the gear lever every time I want to use the stand. May try the Harris but its very expensive as is the BMW. £170 for a paddock stand.....The wife is going to moan again....

Although it is quick and easy to remove the gear shifter the very fact that it has to be removed has also put me off shelling out the cash for the Abba stand so far... although I do like the fact that it is designed for one person to use and the front wheel can easily be raised also. The jury is still out on this one but I would recommend having a look at the Abba website.

do you have to remove the gear lever everytime you use the Abba stand or just when the adaptor is fitted ?

The gear lever does not have to be completely removed, just allowed to drop down out of the way by removing the bolt. This operation is necessary every time the stand needs to be used. In addition, the adaptor cannot be left on permanently as it will not fit between the gear lever and pivot arm unless the gear lever has been moved out of the way. I have spoken to Abba this morning and they admit it is a minor hassle but the whole operation really does not take longer than a couple of minutes. I feel the advantages of the Abba stand far outweigh the minor irritation of the above.

I've got this from sandbar composites not cheap but easy one person operation, spindle that goes through rear wheel is huge lump of solid nylon and has bearings in it so you can spin the rear wheel.

Hi Motorbikez,

Can I ask how much you paid for the rear paddock stand from Sandbar. I called them a year ago about one and they said they had run out of them and didn't know if they were going to restock. I also bought a rear hugger from them. Excellent. Cheers

I like the centre stand - you can't lose it and always have it with you. ;-)

Before I spend 350$ USD on the BMW paddock stand can anyone tell me if 1 person can operate it, The Abba stand will not work and Sandbar will not ship to USA due to shiping cost is more than the price of the stand. And the last thing I want to do is add more weight to the bike with a center stand.

Happy holidays

see attached pic of the stock rack that came with my bike. Back to the original question here I have read through the thread a few time and there seems to be no answer on the paddock stand. I am looking at paying 350$ USD for a BMW stand, can it be operated by one person

The Pit-Bull stand works great. I added some friction tape to the handle for a more secure grip.

The question here is best paddock stand for the K13S, The PitBull may not be the best but it serves it's purpose and the price is right. The bike has a few punds over me so it is a little strugle for me to get it to lift up. It seems to be unstable, wabbles alot, but it does the job it's asked to do. So my answer is no it's not the best but it works for what I want it to do.

The PitBull works, but it's hard for me to lift the bike up and once up it seems unstable and wabbles, price was right and it does do what I want it to do. Not sure how stable the BMW stand is and or seems, can anyone say. It just seems that the PitBull spindel might be too short and thats why it seems unstable.

This is interesting because my Pitbull for my Ducati with single sided swingarm gives complete stability. Is the supplied pin too small for the BMW hub?

Yes I think the spindel might be too short and does not go all the way through the hub to the other side, I will need to measure it and probably contact PitBull to let them know
