SHIVA & SILLS - High-Desert Mavericks - 2010 K1300S Multimedia Run
I am very pleased to announce the following event. In about two weeks I going to take you all with me on a fantastic multi-day and multi-faceted K bike adventure. This is a trip I've been meaning to do for two years, ever since I went to Bonneville Salt Flats in 2007 to cover Andy Sills' world land speed record attempt on a turbo powered K1200S.
This is a shot of Andy Sills going for the FIM record on a turbo powered K1200S in 2007. Andy Sills of course set the world record in 2005 on a K1200S and went back in '07 to up himself.

While in Utah and Nevada for Bonneville, I got to appreciate not only the great condition of the B roads but but how suitable they are for spirited K bike riding. So, now exactly two years later, with much planning, I am again very happy to announce this extremely exciting ride.
This will be a multi-faceted ride, set up in 5 distinct stages.

>> A meet up with our buddy Wayne Chen of Adaptive Radar to install a TPX radar on the Light Grey Metallic K1300S press bike, I'll be riding for this trip.

>> The star of this year's event is the San Jose BMW S1000RR. This is the very first time that the S1000RR is being tested on salt. The RR will be piloted by Willie Hodgson.
>> I will also cover San Jose BMW's HP2 Sport being piloted by Andy Sills. And other bikes and stream liners that Andy Sills will be riding.

>> Andy Sills and I will be riding our two K1300S bikes (mine a Press bike in Light Grey Metallic and he will ride his own, a tri-color) through some of the best roads in Nevada and hitting some of their famed state parks as well.
>> We'll have onboard videos, plus my cinema grade HD camera and of course add to that lots of pics with trip reports.
>> Our intent is to create something new here for the K bike fans. High grade, spirited and exciting videos, mixed with amazing locale and seemingly endless high-desert roads.
>> We'll ride these roads for a few days on our way to Andy's hometown, San Francisco.
Stage 5:
>> A BMWSuperBikes.com SF meet, where I invite all of our NorCal members on Tuesday evening, September 7, to drop by for drinks and priceless camaraderie and to put faces with names.
>> Saying goodbye to Andy and hello to the last stage of this ride.
>> San Francisco to Los Angeles via US 1, or the famed Pacific Coast Highway.
>> Also expect quality onboard footage, plus cinema grade HD and pics.
This has been one of my dream K bike rides for a long time and I am very excited to share it with you guys live.
